VikinX Modular

VikinX Modular is a range of powerful routing products that has been designed and built with flexibility, reliability and affordability as the most important design criteria. Our VikinX Modular routers accommodate the industry’s widest range of signal formats, including HD-SDI, SD-SDI, analogue audio, AES/EBU audio and telecom, with the ability to mix most of these signals in the same frame. Independent of signal format, all components are front loaded and hot-swappable. VikinX Modular allows configurations up to 256x256 with increments of 32x32.

Bridge Line Concept

With the 256x256 VikinX Modular router, Network Electronics introduces the Bridge Line Concept. This utilises a 16 signal wide bus to route any signal in the router through Flashlink signal processing and fibre optic devices, which can be placed in dedicated slots in the router.

Bridge-lines make it possible to internally switch line or frame-synchronisers, A/D and D/A converters or fibre optic interfaces into the signal path, enabling signal error suppression, domain conversion, fibre optic conversion and trunking.

TCP/IP Interconnectivity

All VikinX Modular devices provide TCP/IP interconnectivity for remote routing operation, whether the router is in the next room or on another continent.

VikinX System Configurator

Each control panel has its own database containing set-up files for the Software Configurable Keys. New configurations can easily be made using the VikinX System Configurator software tool.

The VikinX Modular range control panels provide one of the most sophisticated router control systems available. Key enablers are the Expandable Panel Concept, which allows the grouping of several panels into one logical control unit and the Customised Surface Design utility, which gives unlimited possibilities for the design of user surfaces.

All routers can also be controlled remotely through PCs, other manufacturers control equipment or our own THOR Windows-based software control system. New features are continuously added to make the use of the system even more simple and secure.

The steadily growing number of third party interfaces allows installation of VikinX Modular routers in existing third party systems. Those systems can also be controlled from a VikinX Modular control system through the THOR Windows software.

No compromise

Heat and high power consumption are enemies of any electrical device. Our routers have ultra low power consumption and maximised air flow to increase reliability and ensure fault-free operation.

Frame sizes

The VikinX Modular series is available in three frames sizes.

  • The 5RU series (S) is for routers where space is at a premium and a maximum of 64x64 cross points is needed
  • The 9RU(M) series is chosen where up to 128x128 cross points are required.
  • The 21RU(L) series uses the same building blocks to provide 256x256 cross points.
