Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The questions are categorised in two: Flashlink and VikinX.
-
Flashlink: Can I distribute DVB-ASI with the DA-SDI-NRC?
Yes, you can distribute DVB-ASI on the six first output. Number 7 and 8 are inverted and will not work with DVB-ASI. DA-SDI can also be used similarly, where a DIP switch can be set to support DVB-ASI or 177Mbps digital PAL.
-
Flashlink: Can I have both AC and DC power supplies in the same frame?
Yes
-
Flashlink: Can I have more than one GYDA in each system ?
No, you can only have one GYDA in each system
-
Flashlink: Can I transport DVB-ASI signals over an SDI EO/OE link?
Yes, just order an SDI-OE-NRC ( Non reclocking ) receiver version. SDI-OE-2 is user selectable for transport of DVB-ASI or 177Mbps digital PAL.
-
Flashlink: How many cards can GYDA monitor ?
GYDA can monitor up to 80 cards including itself (79 other modules).
-
Flashlink: How many SD-SDI channels can I transport in a CWDM system?
You can transport up to 64 SD-SDI signals on a CWDM system. You will then use all 16 channels available in the CWDM system in combination with SDI-TD MUX/DMUX (4 channel time multiplexed SD-SDI)
-
Flashlink: What cables do I use to connect GYDA to a LAN or a computer ?
When you connect GYDA directly to a computer you shall use a crossed ethernet cable. When connecting GYDA to a LAN you shall use a straight ethernet cable
-
Flashlink: What cables do I use to interconnect frames in a GYDA system ?
You shall use straight cables between the frames.
-
Flashlink: What is the maximum power consumption in each frame?
Maximum power consumption in each frame is 30W at 5V and 30W at +/-15V
-
Flashlink: What voltage do the DC power supply for the frame needs to work?
It needs from 36 to 72 V
-
Flashlink: Which tool do I use to set the IP-address of GYDA ?
You use the Network System Configurator, that comes with the GYDA card. You can also download the Network System Configurator from our website.
-
VikinX: Does the 16x2 router family have DIP switch for 'power-up mode', like square routers?
No, they always remember the last setting.
-
VikinX: Does V0106Q have 4 inputs and 6 independent outputs?
Yes. It is also possible to loop the outputs, in order to form a 1 to 24 distribution.
-
VikinX: How do I get rid of much noise on unused router inputs?
Terminate inputs w/75 Ohms, or connect "black" signal to unused inputs.
-
VikinX: Is it possible to control salvos with all the VikinX X-Y panels?
No, only with P-UNI-ProX-Y, THOR-CP and Modular Control Panels
-
VikinX: Is it possible to control VikinX routers with Telnet ?
No, the compact router control protocol is a binary protocol.
-
VikinX: Is it possible to swap A and B channels on a VikinX router?
No, this is not possible.
-
VikinX: Sometimes the buttons on my VikinX CP stick. What to do?
This happens only on panels with MEC buttons. Lift off the button cap, and pull the LED a little frontwards with a pair of tweezers/pincers.
-
VikinX: The D/A conversion of some signals is not OK. What may be wrong?
Ensure that all Digital signals from one source must enter conversion in one embedded group, and be compliant to the SMPTE-259M standard.
-
VikinX: The display of my P-UNI-ProX-Y shows only arrows! What's wrong?
The level being displayed is not configured. You have to configure all levels that are going to be used.
